Tuesday 6th August marks a memorable occasion with the official start for our long-awaited construction of a Kindergarten.
The College, with The Hon Natalie Hutchins and other invited guests, marked the occasion with a Sod Turning Ceremony on the site. Mark Vodell, College Principal quoted Confucius when he stated: “If your plan is for one-year plant rice. If your plan is for ten years, plant trees. If your plan is for one hundred years educate children.” He also thanked the State government for their grant of $650,000 indicating that the contribution to the facility is appreciated and that the investment involved vision and planning for the future. The Hon Natalie Hutchins responded by underlining the importance of a good education and valuing the benefits that are obtained by an early start that provides a rich and stimulating environment for young minds to grow and develop.
The College is now well on its way to offering a complete program when it will have in 2020 a Kindergarten that will house four-year-olds initially with plans for the second stage of development to expand. Congratulations to Gilson College on this special occasion, which was coordinated by MC – Mr Len Farquharson and also attended by representatives from Adventist Schools Victoria, Kneeler Design Architects and Australian Building Enterprise Pty Ltd. We thank all the staff, teachers and students who contributed to making the day a success.
